Three of the best races of the 1980s in the Australian Touring Car Championship!
The Group A era of the Australian Touring Car Championship between 1985 and 1992 saw a wide range of cars from different brands tackle one another on tracks all over the country.
For the first time, Chevron is releasing three of the best races from the 1980s on this special edition release – plus a bonus extra race, all from the Seven Network archive.
We start with Round 6 of the 1985 ATCC from Calder Park in Melbourne as the likes of Peter Brock, Jim Richards, Dick Johnson and Alan Jones battle the invading turbo Volvo of Robbie Francevic in a barn-stormer on the tight 1.6-kilometre short track over 60 laps.
Then we fast forward to Round 8 in 1987 and the penultimate round at Amaroo Park in Sydney as the JPS BMWs of Richards and Tony Longhurst come charging through to a 1-2.
To finish with, we bring you Round 7 from Winton in 1989 as George Fury’s Skyline splashes its way to victory from Brock’s Sierra in an action-packed wet race on the tight 2.03-kilometre layout. And as a special bonus, we’ve also included a very rare race – the final round of the 1987 AMSCAR Series from Amaroo Park - the Hardie Irrigation 100.
This was the last Amaroo Park touring car endurance race held at the now defunct venue; an event with its roots in the CRC 300 held at the start of that decade.
Running time - 152 minutes main, plus 85 minutes bonus.
