ACME/GMP 1967 FORD FAIRLANE 427 SOHC STREET MACHINE 1/18
Full size Fords make awesome street machines, especially when they’re packin’ heat! Mustangs are nice, but lack the proportions and presence of the Ford Fairlane, with its stacked headlights, huge chrome bumpers, and spacious interior. ACME has captured all the elegance of the 1966/1967 fastback with this 1/18 scale rendition, loaded with one of the most legendary powerplants of the era, the SOHC (Single Overhead Cam) 427 big block. Introduced in 1965, what became known as a ‘Cammer’ was a fairly rudimentary upgrade of the existing 427 FE motor, but still rumoured to have 600 horsepower on gasoline. One Cammer feature that continues to fascinate gearheads today is the timing chain—it was nearly seven feet long!
Banned from NASCAR, production numbers were very low and even finding one these days is difficult, let alone being able to afford it!
Finished in fantastic Burnt Orange Metallic, this example is radically powered with a supercharged, Hilborn-injected 427 Cammer, MSD ignition, under floor dump pipes, and a fuel cell and nitrous bottle in the trunk. Race seats, roll cage, tach and inline shifter put the driver in the zone, and traditional SS Cragars rims wrapped with front runners and drag slicks do their best to keep up with their demands.
A truly awesome rendition of a traditional street machine.
